School/Community Group Drop-Ins
Kidpower instructors can visit schools or community groups where it may be impractical to conduct a full workshop due to time or other constraints, and instead conduct a shorter ‘drop-in’ session. These sessions can either be a one-off lesson or designed as part of a continuing curriculum.
Instructors can teach using the Kidpower Safety Comics and/or the Kidpower Teaching Kits. Sessions can also be tailored to cover any specific topics that a host might require (bullying prevention, abuse prevention, stranger safety skills, etc).
For younger children instructors can utilise PuppetPower or Comic book sessions, using stories and role play to teach important safety skills. For older children, the ‘Safety Skills for Teenagers’ comic can be used as a starting point to lead discussion sessions on safety skills.
